Paul Ovington

Paul is Director of Oxford Management Solutions Ltd; a company dedicated to helping organisations of all sizes achieve strategic objectives. He is a true expert in the fields of business strategy, project management and high-tech engineering. He holds an MSc in Silicon Chip Design, an MBA, a Diploma in Marketing. Paul is a qualified project and programme manager and is a practitioner in PRINCE2 and MSP.

Paul was one of the first students in the UK to gain an MSc in Microelectronics. In 1981 he established a UK design centre for California Devices, Inc. In 1984, he established Hitachi’s European ASIC operation initially conducting the technology transfer from Japan. Over the next 10 years, he grew the Hitachi’s ASIC business from ground zero. Subsequently he worked in a senior management position in EM Microelectronics, the silicon fabrication for the Swiss Watch industry, then moved on to develop advanced router technology in Denmark for Telebit Communications.

Returning to the UK, Paul joined VLSI Technology, Inc as Project Manager. Paul worked exclusively for Ericsson Mobile Phones developing ARM-based System-on-Chip solutions for strategic programmes. By 2000 he had become arguably the UK’s highest paid programme manager. By this time he had accumulated substantial expertise in developing project management systems, optimised product development methodology and linking a project environment to a company’s strategy and competitiveness. In 2002 he established Oxford Management Solutions Ltd, an organisation primarily dedicated with helping high-techs with mastering project and programme management.

It was while completing his MBA in 1994 that Paul took a final module in Project Management. Realising the immense potential strategic advantage of optimised project management methodology he made a profound career and lifelong commitment to master the field of high-tech project management. Over the last 20 years he has pursued a deliberate strategy to find continuously better ways of developing complex high-tech products.

With a 38 year career in high-tech engineering Paul project managed the development the world’s first Bluetooth solution, the world’s first internet-enabled smartphone and the world’s lowest power GPS solution. He has worked with a broad portfolio of technologies and in a broad range of high-tech sectors. He has worked with companies around the globe and has also worked for 7 years in continental Europe. He is multi-lingual, speaking Danish German, French and Russian.

Outside of high-tech engineering field, Paul has gained a Black Belt in Karate and is former President of Oxford Speakers Club. Today Paul speaks, consults, trains and mentors high-growth, high-tech companies. He possesses advanced speaking skills and is the only second person to attain the level of “Distinguished Toastmaster” in Oxford Speakers Club’s 54 year history. He also organised and project managed the launch of a book on Amazon, “Breaking the Barriers to Business Growth”. As well as specialising in business strategy Paul provides hands-on interim project and programme management services enabling a company’s vision to become a predictable reality. His extensive training portfolio in high-tech project management training has kept him in first place on Google over the last few years.
